When I feel constrained in my daily life, I prefer to go on Google Earth and travel to different locations to let my mind wander. Google Earth is a computer software that creates a 3D representation of any location on Earth using satellite images. I can virtually travel to interesting places I’ve never visited before, or I can return to memories of old neighbourhoods I used to live in.

Experiencing Google Earth in virtual reality is truly amazing. A virtual reality headset is a heads-up display that enables users to interact with simulated surroundings and see things from their point of view.

Going to random places and looking at street view stuff is far more poignant in VR than on a desktop. You get the impression that you’re peering into other worlds and other lives on our shared planet! I’ve spent hundreds of hours on street view all around the world, yet there are still so many locations I want to see. Sometimes I just want to get away for a while and travel around the world.
After a Google Earth VR session, I always feel like I’ve gotten a fresh viewpoint. It is a very useful tool in understanding and exploring the world for many people who can’t afford or don’t have the time to travel a lot.
